A typical session in one of our infrared sauna pods burn 600 – 1200 calories when considering the actual sauna session and the 36 hour metabolic boost received after the session. The water weight lost during the sauna session is easily replenished, but the calories burned during the session are not. Additionally, the detoxification that occurs during sweating makes it easier for your body to naturally deplete fat stored during everyday activities in life.
When exposed to infrared heat, your body attempts to maintain its regular temperature through a process called “thermoregulation” which causes your body to sweat. Your system works hard and spends a lot of energy during this process, which results in calories burned. The rapid caloric burn boosts metabolism and will allow you to continue burning calories at an accelerated rate -- even after your sauna session is over. The body often stores toxins within fat deposits in order to protect your body’s organs and other critical body tissues from toxic exposure. When these toxins are excreted from the body through the process of sweating, your body will gradually allow the elimination of fat that was previously used as a protective buffer.
Clients that visit our sauna pods and sweat on a regular basis (with two to three days between sessions) can expect to lose one clothing size within six to ten treatments, assuming that they are also practicing a calorie-neutral diet. They may also find that the release of heavy metals and toxins help correct metabolic and hormonal imbalances, which can improve digestion and the quality of their sleep.
